By Josh Ferrari, awesome intern
As Waymaker Communications’ best intern (it’s okay, I’m the only one), I’m uniquely qualified to write about Waymaker’s culture and impact on the community.
I joined the team in May 2015. Then known as PRO iNK, the Waymaker team has gone out of its way to make me feel at home. This intern has his own desk, computer and bright red mouse, y’all.
To tell you why I think Waymaker makes a positive impact on the greater Gainesville community, I have to first tell you why I approached them for an internship.
Back in March I began looking for an internship in Gainesville at a communications agency. I made a list of preferences. Mentorship, diversity of service and a fun atmosphere were at the top of my list. Luckily for me, Waymaker encompasses all three and so much more.
From day one, it was evident to me that Waymaker not only cares about its staff and clients; it cares about the community, too. The team finds ways to give back through its clients, sometimes focusing on initiatives that directly impact the citizens of Alachua County. The staff is involved in great local organizations, including serving on the board of United Way of North Central Florida and in Leadership Gainesville, a community leadership program. And the Waymaker way is all about having a great time while doing it all.
To say the name change will be the start of a new era for the company would be a bit misleading. Waymaker has always valued, and will continue to value, giving back to the community and its clients in a way so uniquely its own.
You can expect so much more from Waymaker this year, and this intern for one, is happy to be along for the ride.
